About Mrs. Havard

This is my 27th year in education and my fourth year at Deer Park ISD. I love being a Deer Park Deer!

I have previously taught PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd grades before transitioning to a dyslexia interventionist for the past seventeen years. I hold certifications in Special Education, Gifted and Talented, English as a Second Language, and a Master of Education in Reading with a Reading Specialist Certification. I earned my certification to become a Dyslexia Specialist through the Region 4 Education Center and Neuhaus Education Center. I am also a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist through the Center for Effective Reading Instruction.

I'm a teacher-mom to my high school sports athlete son, Kaeleb, who attends Deer Park, and my college-age daughter, Alayna, a University of Houston graduate who's now in graduate school at the University of Texas. I also have three adult bonus children and a bonus grandson. My husband, an Aggie, is an over-the-road truck driver.

In my free time, I enjoy reading and relieving stress through hot yoga/pilates. Although I spend many days as a multi-sports mom, I also love snuggling with my furbabies whenever I can. I've included pictures of three of my cats in graduation regalia from the colleges I graduated from.
