About Mrs. Havard

This is my 25th year in education and my second year in Deer Park ISD. I am very excited to be an official Deer Park Deer!
I have previously taught PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd grades, in addition to fourteen years as a dyslexia interventionist.
I have an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Lee College in Baytown (where my father was a government professor for 27 years). My Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a minor in English, is from the University of Houston Clear Lake. I completed my Master of Education in Reading with a Reading Specialist degree at Houston Baptist University (where my parents met). I hold certifications in Special Education, Gifted and Talented, as well as English as a Second Language.  In 2008, I pursued my certification to become a Dyslexia Specialist through Region 4 Education Center and Neuhaus Education Center.

I am a teacher-mom to my eighth-grade son, Kaeleb, and college-age daughter Alayna (a graduate of the University of Houston and currently attending the University of Texas graduate school); bonus daughters Faith (graduate Texas A&M University) and Joy (graduate of Baylor University); and bonus son, Tom (graduate Texas State University and active National Guard) and daughter in law, Laurel (graduate of Texas State University). My husband is an over-the-road truck driver, so my children and I have a lot of time to play with our kittens while we wait for Mr. Havard to come home and join us.

My number one goal is your child and his/her success in and out of the classroom.
